[Indications]

Electrolyte replenishment drug. It is indicated for the adjunctive therapy of kaliopenia, arrhythmia (mainly ventricular arrhythmia) caused by digitalis intoxication, sequela of myocarditis, congestive cardiac failure and myocardial infarction.

[Pharmacology and toxicology]

Potassium Aspartate and Magnesium Aspartate is a mixture of potassium salt and magnesium salt of aspartic acid, an electrolyte replenishment drug.  Magnesium ion and Potassium ion are important ions in cell, playing a significant role in many enzyme reactions and muscle contraction process. The intracellular and intercellular concentration ratio of potassium ion, calcium ion, sodium ion and magnesium ion influences the cardiac contractility. Aspartic acid is the former of oxaloacetic acid in body, playing an important role in tricarboxylic acid cycle. Meanwhile, Aspartic acid is also involved in urea cycle, improves the metabolism of ammonia and CO₂, makes them generate into urea to decrease the contents of ammonia and CO₂. Aspartic acid has a very strong affinity with the cells, and it can be used as the carrier for potassium and magnesium entering into cell, making potassium ion return into cells, improving depolarization of cell and cell metabolism, and maintaining its normal function. Magnesium ion is the necessary matter for generating glycogen and high energy phosphate, which can improve the therapeutic effect of potassium aspartate.
